How rude should theatre critics be?

“How rude should theatre critics be?” asks the Guardian’s Michael Billington. Rudeness is, of course, subjective – a critic should be thinking about writing an honest review first and foremost, not how other people are going to perceive what they’ve written.

  1. Yes, honesty is the thing and the opinions are personal. That's not rudeness. It can (and should) be done assertively but without deliberately setting out to give offence.
